by Robert Fletcher

Well You dont see that many of these around so i thought i'd do one as its very easy once you know how. This Tutorial dosnt cover all of hair modling this tutorial covers things a method for making like fringes and pony tails the main body of the hair should be a mesh as the method would be way to complex to use for all the hair

Ok lets Begin

Step1:Intro
Right start with your bare head like below

Step2:Getting ready
Now Create a piece of hair

Step3:The Material

now Select it and press F5, then create a brand new texture for it and name it something like Hair. Set the "Alpha" slider to 0 and press the "ZTransp" Button. Now for the Textures You can make you own or use the ones Below, but remember if you use my textures please give me credit.

Heres how the material should be

The Textures:

The Alpha/Opacity Map
This Guy is the one that tells blender what bits to make transparent as a rough guide the Darker it is the more transparent it is.

to use this texture save it to the blender Directory

The Hair Texture

No Surprises here

Step 4: The Texture
Add The 2 textures to the material the Alpha Texture first then the Hair Texture, Then set up each one as seen below

ALPHA TEXTURE:

Press The Alpha button to tell blender to use this as the Materials Alpha Map
Press the NOR Button to add a Bump map to make the Hair detail Clearer

HAIR TEXTURE:

Press COL to tell blender to use this as a coloured texture

Step 5: Finnish off by adding the main body of the hair(no alpha texture is needed for this) then render it

BTW: A Bright Background brings out the detail of the hair
